Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' mantra that attracts so many people into the NFL
That result could have created things up for the New England Patriots to move back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a schedule that provides them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a monster clash in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
Was it just an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to answer
The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third quarter and first points in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was crucial too, with Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the season and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard season average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An interception in the scoring area meaning a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that Miami turned into seven points just later
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defense and Allen trying to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the composed, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of a trend, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the Patriots are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East
Regarding the Patriots, they're among three eight and two squads in the league, all AFC sides, but are they the best?
One could pick holes in New England, Denver and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the weaker opponents, with only five of their total twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Denver
Denver defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philly and are masters of the fourth-quarter while Indianapolis can rely on Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time win in Orchard Park appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, since then - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to prepare was significant
Drake Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he certainly earns credit for bravery after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his side to success
The defense is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different runner to break 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
Although you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favourites to finish with the best record due to their remaining opponents - which features just one game against a successful opponent, although a huge one against Buffalo
Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but face the same problem) and also the Packers on the schedule
The Indianapolis also play the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two games with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There is a long way to travel but the door is open for a shock number one position in the AFC
Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three 8-2 sides are NFC West opponents the Seattle and Los Angeles, who both scored 40 burgers to go to 7-2 ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a row, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with top receivers, and defensive units giving up fewer than twenty points a contest
Each could realistically be without a loss as too - especially the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in extra time against the 49ers and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a potentially winning kick with the final play blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a last-minute score in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely among the top teams in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 yards, scoring three touchdowns and contributing another 42 {receiving yards
