The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and in a stunning performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the top winner. The standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's triumph, its gifted actors also received personal awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her role as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Top Studio. Overall, Clair Obscur and its developers achieved seven awards throughout the show.
Additional major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and PC Game of the Year. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only four awards—Critics Choice, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamer Selection—judged by critics.
