Miami put up eighty-six opening half points against the Grizzlies
The Heat claimed a crushing 146 to 114 victory against the Memphis Grizzlies in their first NBA match after player Rozier was detained for alleged unlawful gambling.
Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested as part of a extensive FBI investigation into sports betting. The two individuals deny the claims.
But, the Miami team were not distracted as they recorded 86 opening half scores to lead the Grizzlies by thirty-nine at halftime, the largest half-time advantage in the franchise's 37 year history.
Adebayo top-scored with 24 scores and afterwards stated Rozier had the team's full backing.
"We support him. Full support," Adebayo said. "You support him through and through. He's like family at the end of the day."
Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra commented: "Terry is a person who is very dear to everyone. He's had a beneficial influence on our team.
"We send our thoughts and support for him as he goes through the situation."
Portland also secured their first game after the detentions, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's non-attendance and leading the squad to a convincing 139 to 119 win over the Golden State Warriors.
"We all had positive times with Billups and his coaching style," Tiago remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his family but our focus is on the game."
Speaking about the arrests for the first time, league head Adam Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.
"There's nothing more important to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."
Silver further mentioned an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he participated for the Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.
"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.
"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.
"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA can't do.
"So, we've been working with them since then. Naturally, what they revealed recently was an indictment.
"Moreover 30 months later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Terry.
"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between protecting people's rights and investigating."
