Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for celebrating violence and madness with the same excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose work have represented all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the core of people through this complex and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
