Liverpool's Star Offers Apology to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the uproar from his televised remarks.
The Fallout
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and suggesting his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the situation. Jones believes the outburst were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
