During the fall season, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. In mid-December, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four key characters.

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and championed its uniquely offbeat sensibility.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to experience the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.
